Believe it or not, he’s not playing every role in the film. He’s reached out to Richard Jenkins, Michael Shannon, Joaquin Phoenix, and Paul Dano to fill out the potential cast. I say potential because if someone shows his Eddie Murphy’s work in the Nutty Professor films between now and then, plans will probably change.

At this rate, the poor thing is going to suffer dehydration before he gets the chance to present himself the Oscar for Best Actor at the ceremony that he is also hosting. Somebody please make sure this guy gets a CapriSun. (MTV)

James Franco is combining his love of filmmaking with his love of being smarter than you realized. With his indie feature directing effort The Ape successfully forgotten, he’s ready to top the call sheet once again. This time, the Flyboys star is eyeballing two of the greatest novels of the twentieth century, Faulkner’s As I Lay Dying and McCarthy’s Blood Meridian.

Both films will be adapted from scripts written by Franco, because he isn’t able to keep himself busy enough with acting in movies, acting in soap operas, earning degrees, writing books, shooting viral videos, hosting the Oscars, growing cool facial hair, and being squinty.
