Anyway, here’s our first look at the movie. It’s not known whether this is a set photo or an “official” still, but to me it definitely looks a lot more polished and cinematic than your average set photo. You can see the larger version below and see if you agree. (The Playlist)

The actor has accepted a lead role in the Brad Pitt film Cogan’s Trade, directed by Andrew Dominik (The Assassination of Jesse James By The– Yadda Yadda Yadda). However, as if that weren’t enough, he’s been offered lead roles in Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter and Ridley Scott’s I-Can’t-Believe-It’s-Not-Alien movie Prometheus. Forget scoot-ing, this guy will have to sprint from set-to-set with a calendar that chock full o’ tentpoles.

Someone once talked me out of changing my name to “Shoo McFloozy.” Now I’m wondering if the courts are still open. (Deadline)

“Liotta will play Mark ‘Markie’ Trattman, the unfortunate hustler who runs the game in a motel room and finds things only going downhill from there.”

Between Henry Hill and Tony Soprano, this is shaping up to be a new gangster classic. Maybe they can get some Vanilla Ice on the soundtrack! (via The Hollywood Reporter)

Curatola will play a man recently released from prison who seeks revenge on those who sent him there. Does that mean he masterminds the mafia card game heist that the film is centered around? Or is he a red herring?

Nevertheless, this double-dose of casting doesn’t dispel any comparisons that have already been made between Cogan’s Trade and “The Sopranos.” Dominik isn’t looking very far to find wiseguys for the film. He shouldn’t be too surprised if he spots Steve Schirripa walking by his house repeatedly with a rented dog. (THR)

The whole card game is being helmed by Andrew Dominik, who also directed (deep breath) The Assassination of Jesse James By the Coward Robert Ford, which means it will probably be a totally underrated classic for years to come (seriously, Jesse James is better than No Country for Old Men). As previously reported, the film centers on a mob enforcer tracking down thieves who knocked over a high stakes card game. No word yet on who Rockwell will play, but I’m betting he sports a mustache. I’ve got a good feeling about this. I’m not familiar with the original novel by George V. Higgins, but if there’s a character named Vincenzo Mustachioli, Rockwell will play that role. I’m never wrong about these things. (Deadline)

Don’t throw away your The Assassination Of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford commemorative jacket just yet (in case you were planning on doing that). The film has new relevance! It looks like director Andrew Dominik and stars Brad Pitt and Casey Affleck had so much fun playing Wild West cowboys together that they may schedule another playdate.

Pitt is attached to the lead role (opposite Affleck) in Cogan’s Trade, a Boston-based story about an enforcer tasked with tracking down whoever robbed a high stakes mafia poker game. Like on that episode of "The Sopranos." Schedules are still being ironed out, as Dominik was slated to begin shooting Naomi Watts in the Marilyn Monroe biopic Blonde this January. More importantly, when is Brad Pitt going to get around to making World War Z? We need that film before the zombie thing gets completely beaten back into the Earth. (THR)
