Of course, it’s Adult Swim, so you know there’s no chance that they’re not going to take the opportunity to screw with their audience. And honestly, we wouldn’t have it any other way.

With all the build-up of the Adult Swim marketing machine, fans of both Cartoon Network and the countless stars attached to the project were expecting…something.

And something is exactly what they got. If by “something,” you meant a “shot-for-shot remake of the Simon & Simon opening credits but with Jon Hamm and Adam Scott in the lead roles.”

Just watch, ok?

Let's hope that these really attractive people find a way to work things out.

Life is a complicated web of what-ifs. One decision can set your destiny and cause a ripple effect that shapes the lives of those around you. What Friends With Kids does is imagine what would have happened if Kristen Wiig‘s Bridesmaids character had found happiness with Jon Hamm. The results are pretty bizarro.

In addition to Wiig, Hamm, Maya Rudolph, and Chris O’Dowd, Friends With Kids also stars writer/director/Hamm squeeze Jennifer Westfeldt, Adam Scott, Ed Burns, and Megan Fox. The action centers around two friends who decide to have a baby together out of convenience. However, that arrangement stirs up complicated feelings for the both of them. And their friends are all like, “Say whaaaat???!”

Let’s hope that these really attractive people find a way to work things out.

Now you might have the chance to ignore a big screen adaptation of the series.

Show creator Rob Thomas spoke at an Alamo Drafthouse event celebrating the brilliant but canceled comedy and he had some good news that will hopefully pan out. “People are talking to us about doing a Party Down movie, and we are pretty far down the deal-making process with that … Ideally, if it works out, we could be shooting in television hiatus time next spring. So hopefully that deal will close, and we’ll all tweet about it when it does.”

Of course, Thomas is also the creator of Veronica Mars and plans to get a movie version of that off the ground never panned out. Between that, the rumblings of a Wet Hot American Summer prequel, and now half-promises of a big-screen Party Down, there’s never been a more frustrating time to be a comedy nerd. Or Ken Marino. ADAM SCOTT will appear with Seth Rogen and Barbra Streisand in My Mother’s Curse as well as the comedy See Girl Run opposite Robin Tunney where he’ll play a sensitive artist. Adam, I hope you checked with Paul Rudd to make sure he wasn’t interested in these roles first. He has seniority.
Adam Scott and producer Will Ferrell to pick up where the Catalina Wine Mixer left off.

Will Ferrell and Adam McKay are moving forward with an adaptation of the hit off-Broadway play Bachelorette, which features “Party Down” alums Adam Scott and Lizzy Caplan, as well as Casey Wilson and Kirsten Dunst. The film will be produced under Ferrell and McKay’s Gary Sanchez production studio.

The film actually has a painfully generic premise: Three best friends are invited to serve at bridesmaids for a girl they taunted in high school. A laundry list of characters from their high school days appear at the wedding, presumably with hilarious results. The $3 million budget sounds promising as well, as both Scott and Caplan have proven they can shine in the indie (read: low budget) paradigm.

Leslye Headland, a former assistant to the Weinsteins and writer for FX’s short-lived “Terriers” will be writing and directing the film. Some aspects of this story cause me to scream from my desk in joy (Ferrell, Scott, Caplan), some make me skeptical (plot and writer/director), and some just make me gassy and dizzy (Dunst). (THR)

Seemed more like the average studio comedy than a Sundance movie. There were a few inspired moments but mostly embarrassing misfires.

My Idiot Brother seemed more like the average studio comedy than a Sundance movie. There were a few inspired moments but mostly embarrassing misfires. It kind of feels like the whole movie is Kuno from Forgetting Sarah Marshall and that gets old as the main character.

Ned (Paul Rudd) is the idiot. He’s clearly a nice guy because he gives a little girl free fruit when he’s working a fruit stand. He also sells pot to a uniformed cop because he really buys the story that he just needs to relax. It’s a sting, which honestly I’ll admit, I would not expect a cop to be so blatant either. Also Ned’s dog is named Willie Nelson.

Once out of jail, Ned’s girlfriend Janet (Kathryn Hahn) dumps him and keeps the dog. His family tries to support him, but they’re really condescending. They take turns letting him live with them. Natalie (Zooey Deschanel) is bisexual with a girlfriend (Rashida Jones). Miranda (Elizabeth Banks) is a journalist trying to get the dirt on Lady Arabella (Janet Montgomery). Liz (Emily Mortimer) is married to Dylan (Steve Coogan), a filmmaker making a documentary on a ballet dancer, basically ogling her doing the splits.

Here are examples of some of the wacky hysterics of My Idiot Brother. Dylan bumps into a wall. Liz and Dylan’s kids take African dance class. Ned walks right through Dylan’s shot while he’s filming. Ned pretends to throw his urine sample at his parole officer. Ned goes to a self-help seminar in a sauna and passes out. An elaborate contrivance has Ned sitting in a tow zone all night, when a traffic cop comes he realizes Dylan has the car keys, and walks in on Dylan naked with the ballerina.

The plot complications revolve around Ned delivering information he doesn’t understand. He doesn’t understand that Dylan is cheating on Liz until Miranda explains that’s what he saw. Ned is honest to a fault. When Miranda’s neighbor Jeremy (Adam Scott) mentions a few of Miranda’s faults, Ned just tells her. Then when Miranda bashes Jeremy, he tells him. He also tells Natalie’s girlfriend that Nat’s still sleeping with guys too.

By the end I sort of got what the film was going for, but I don’t think it established it clearly enough. The sister’s have so many smart thoughts that they try to control everything. Ned just relates to people, even if he can’t read them. He charms Lady Arabella so she opens up to him, but when Miranda wants to use the secrets he got, he won’t vouch for her story. So he’s got integrity.

It’s wisdom through idiocy basically, as if being childlike is better than being grown-up and cynical. Well, when these are your sisters, Ned is the lesser of four evils. There’s still a good balance where you can have good values but also take care of yourself.

He’s signed “Family Guy” daughter Mila Kunis to join Max Payne co-star Mark Wahlberg in Ted. Kunis will play Wahlberg’s long-suffering girlfriend and Scott will play her boss who comes between the two.

The film, of course, revolves around a man and his childhood teddy bear that happens to be alive. Over the years, the bear has grown to be “a cursing, smoking, delinquent (voiced by MacFarlane) that is preventing the man from maturing.” No word yet on which of his four voices MacFarlane will use. Meet your new mom.
Struggling to find her place in the post-Transformers world, Megan Fox has signed on for Jon Hamm's boo's comedy Friends With Kids. The movie steals a plotline from season three of "Murphy Brown," with director Jennifer Westfeldt starring alongside Adam Scott as a pair of friends who decide to forego the muckiness that comes with relationships and just skip ahead to the baby-making. That way, they're still free to date hotter people. Hotter people like Jon Hamm and Megan Fox it turns out.
"It's a very literate script and when Jen met with her, she thought Megan was spot on. When (Fox) picks the right part, she has tremendous value," said Cinetic Media's John Sloss, who is handling sales and had his fingers crossed behind his back during the interview. (THR)

Adam Scott is so certain that you'll like his new film Piranha 3D that if you don't, he'll personally come over to your house and act out his scenes for you and yours friends. At least, that's what he tweeted yesterday. Today, he laid out the stipulations for Vanity Fair, which I'm betting most of you would willingly abide by for his visit:
“Few things: Will need the aforementioned firearm and fish. Will also need local Elisabeth Shue look-alike to run dialogue with, a plaid shirt, two high-fives (one before we run the scenes, one after), peanut M&M’s, a map with the closest Red Roof Inn circled on it (I won’t be staying there, I just like knowing where it is. I’ll be staying with you), a 700-word essay on why you neglected to recognize that Piranha 3D totally f**king shreds, Perrier, a quick guitar lesson, one grenade, dinner with your family, and directions to the airport.”
The only request I have a problem with is the 700-word essay. If there's one thing I can't stand in this world, it's mandated writing. When I put fingertips to keyboard it's on my own terms, Scott. (Movieline)

Piranha 3D
R, 82m., 2010
Cast: Elisabeth Shue, Adam Scott, Ving Rhames, Jerry O’Connell, Steve R. Directed by Alexandre Aja
Screenplay by Peter Goldfinger and Josh Stolberg

Piranha 3D zips along at great pace with plenty of boobs and blood to give us one hell of a fun summer ride at the movies.

For those who want to know any plot, a ‘seismic’ underwater earthquake unleashes a huge pack of pre-historic flesh hungry piranhas onto a popular desert lake during sprin break. What follows are the gory events and traps that bring togethe the town Sheriff (Elisabeth Shue), her tough guy Deputy (Ving Rhames), a underwater researcher (Adam Scott), and a boat load of sleazy Girls Gone Wild crew members headed by Jerry O’Connell, doing some of his best over the top acting ever.

A couple of hilarious cameos by Richard Dreyfuss and Christopher Lloyd keep things rolling as they remind us that we’re always going to need a bigger boat when dealing with monstrous sea creatures.

At its core, the movie is just another gimmicky remake of the 1970s Roger Cormen B-classic, Piranha. The original was a rip-off of Jaws, and this version seems even more so with its many zoom shots and characters having similar traits and references. Dreyfuss even finds himself on an ill-fated boat again, and Scott looks an awful lot like a young Dreyfuss with his thick glasses and beard.

Yet Alexandre Aja, director of High Tension and The Hills Have Eyes (2006), along with his cast of classic screen actors, D-List stars, and young, tan teenagers dive head first into the campy gore and sex. They don’t hold anything back, from fishes gobbling penises that are spit back at you to underwater nude scenes with this month’s Playboy cover girl Kelly Brook. The best way to enjoy is just to sit back, laugh, howl, and enjoy the ridiculous ride this movie takes you on.
This feels like a formality, but some of the stars of the upcoming Piranha 3D felt it necessary to create a For Your Consideration video to drum up Oscar support. In my opinion, it's already a shoe-in, and I haven't even seen it yet because the studio won't screen it for critics, most likely because it's too amazing to show early.
Jerry "Hollywood Treasure" O'Connell, Adam Scott, Kelly Brook, and Paul Scheer are a few of the cast members asking for your vote this award season. If nothing else, the film should definitely have a lock on the Best Penis Being Gobbled Up and Spit Out in 3D category. The scene of that in Inception was just so-so.

Where in the hell did the movie Operation: Endgame come from? It stars Rob Corddry, Zach Galifianakis, Maggie Q, Adam Scott, Ving Rhames, Ellen Barkin, Bob Odenkirk, Brandon T. Jackson, Jeffrey Tambor, and Odette Yustman. I'd watch that cast wallow in used diapers for 90 minutes. The action-comedy follows two teams of government spies pitted against one another. Of course, most of the men are inept and the women are smokin' hot ass-kickers, but the jokes play. Unfortunately the film is being dumped to DVD, which I find hard to believe considering it stars the now "it" comedian Galifiankis. Maybe the world just isn't ready to see him engage in espionage. Check out the red band trailer for Operation: Endgame below:
