Abigail Spencer To Provide Lovely Assistance In ‘Oz, The Great And Powerful’

The headline probably tipped you off, but I wanted to make sure you’re informed that Abigail Spencer has signed on to Sam Raimi‘s Oz, the Great and Powerful. She’ll join James Franco‘s Oz and the trio of witches played by Mila Kunis, Rachel Weisz, and Michelle Williams in the prequel to the classic Wizard Of Oz.

The actress, best known as Mad Men‘s hot, hippy schoolteacher, will play a young woman described as “a willing subject of Oz’s magic tricks which the erstwhile magician is performing in Kansas.” I was always lead to believe that women weren’t impressed by magic tricks. Or at least not the ones that I used to do. I can’t go into details because a true magician never reveals his secrets. Also, because of all that stuff the judge ordered. (THR)

“Hawthorne” actress Abigail Spencer was born and raised in Gulf Breeze, Florida. She got her start in show business as a pagaent model at a young age, before scoring a regular role on long-running soap “All My Children.” Spencer has taken various television gigs throughout her career, including a recurring role on”Mad Men” in 2009. Later this year she’ll appear in Cowboys and Aliens.

A word from Abigail: “I look and act a lot better than Megan Fox. That’s the big difference between us.”

Abigail Spencer Recruited To ‘This Means War’

Since appearing on”Mad Men,” Abigail Spencer‘s career has been picking up steam. So has the casting for McG‘s This Means War. With Cowboys & Aliens under her giant Western belt buckle, she’s ready to join the action comedy. The film stars Chris Pine and Tom Hardy as two friends who both fall for Reese Witherspoon. However, they are both super-spies and their duels for her affection reduce the city to rubble.

Spencer will play Hardy’s ex-wife. Angela Bassett will also appear as the boss of both Pine and Hardy. I like this cast. And the premise could be fun. I don’t know what to expect from McG, so I’ll hold my judgment for the time being. I’m just so fearful we’re going to see Chris Pine surfing on a jet. Or worse, riding two sidewinder missiles like skis. (THR)

Abigail Spencer And Katee Sackhoff Join Chad Michael Murray For ‘The Haunting In Georgia’

Dreams really do come true. One minute, you’re appearing in a Twix commercial. The next, you’re on”Mad Men.” And finally, you’re starring opposite Chad Michael Murray (that’s something people dream about, right?). Welp, that’s the path Abigail Spencer is taking. Now that shooting has wrapped on Cowboys & Aliens, she’ll head down to Georgia for some good ol’ fasheened haunted hijinks. Hijinks = vomiting ghosts.

She’s signed on for The Haunting In Georgia, along with Murray, Katee Sackhoff, Emily Alyn Lind, and Cicely Tyson. The quartet will play a family who get the living “H” haunted out of them in this sequel to last year’s The Haunting In Connecticut. Spencer will play Murray’s wife, Sackhoff will play her wayward sister, and Lind plays the couple’s daughter.

The film focuses on “the chilling story of four-year-old Heidi and her imaginary friends, Mr. Gordy and Con. As Heidi reveals mysterious details about the two, her parents become concerned … could her playmates be more than make believe? When the rest of the family begins experiencing terrifying phenomena — waking with deep gashes on their bodies — it seems there’s little they can do to stop the escalating nightmare.“

In all fairness, waking up with deep gashes could also be caused by Georgian bed bugs. Have you seen the size of them suckers? (Bloody Disgusting)

Abigail Spencer Joins ‘Cowboys and Aliens’

Abigail Spencer has joined the cast of the upcoming Jon Favreau movie, Cowboys and Aliens. Co-starring Daniel Craig, Olivia Wilde, Harrison Ford and Sam Rockwell, the film is still in its early stages, and will not be released until July of 2011.

Spencer is best known for playing the mistress of Don Draper on the hit AMC show, "Mad Men." Not wanting to by typecast, she branched out and took the roll of a prostitute in Cowboys and Aliens. ZING!
