There’s a certain irony to Men In Black 3‘s focusing on time travel as a plot motif, considering that the production is taking foreeeeeeeever. The Hollywood Reporter has a piece that details the lags the production has faced. The most hilarious reason is that Will Smith wants to add to his multi-hyphenate by adding “screenwriting” to his list of skills.
“He’s become very enamored with aspects of screenwriting,” says a source involved with the production. The source believes Smith has earned the right to weigh in on the script, but he says the actor’s process “takes a long time.” (The star’s reps did not respond to a request for comment.)
Jeez, tell me about it. I’ve been waiting YEARS for a follow-up album to Willenium. Hopefully he’s got one in the vault for the year Y3K. While Smith isn’t under any pressure to approve the script (or finish it), but I’d love to hear more about his process. Can we assume that he won’t approve any script unless it includes enough rhyming words to craft an end credits song?
