Why Yes, The ‘Captain America’ Sequel Did Make A Lot Of Money Overseas

While it would be more efficient to report when a comic book movie DOESN’T make a ton of money its opening weekend, we at Screen Junkies still prefer to write things in the affirmative. So here we are. Captain America: The Winter Soldier has earned $72.5 million its opening weekend (overseas, opening in the US this weekend) despite the fact that it’s in spring, and audiences should be confused by that.

$72.5 million sounds like a lot of money because it is. However, to give some perspective, G.I. Joe: Retaliation opened this weekend last year to $80 million. So it’s about 90% as good as G.I. Joe. If you believe money equals goodness. Which I know you all do.
