The latest entry in the Great Marvel Avengers Experiment, Thor, got pretty good reviews for a movie about a Norse god superhero. Coincidentally, "pretty good" would also be a, um, somewhat adequate descriptor of the movie's box office performance. Despite opening at number one, it didn't even come close to cracking the $100 million dollar mark, with a total gross of $66 million, the gross of the beast.

Elsewhere in the top five are two new releases at spots three and four. At number 3 is Jumping the Broom with $13.7 million, and Something Borrowed with $13.1 million. I don't have anything to say about these movies, other than they probably don't have any giant magic hammers. (Box Office Mojo)
