Despite the director's objections, Warner Bros is reportedly strong-arming Guillermo del Toro into converting his 2-D film, Pacific Rim, to 3-D. This comes on the heels of del Toro telling the crowd at Comic-Con that he doesn't feel the imagery of huge mechanized robot suits beating the frig out of giant monsters will look very good in three dimensions. And if anyone would know for sure, it's Guillermo del Toro. He's consistently delivered awesome cinematic experiences and should be trusted in this regard.

Of course, it has to come down to money for the studio. 3-D still plays really well overseas even though American audiences are growing increasingly turned off by it. If given a choice I'll buy a ticket for the 2-D screening, especially considering it wasn't shot with 3-D in mind. Clash of the Titans looked way too dark and muddy after undergoing post-conversion, and I don't think I'm ready to see Charlie Day in three dimensions. He's got those eyes. (Variety)
