Two More Characters With Weird Names Cast In ‘Hunger Games’

Monday, April 18 by

The blockbuster-in-waiting Hunger Games has cast a couple of its District 11 tributes, after casting young stars Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson earlier as two of its District 12 tributes. What’s the difference between a District 11 tribute and a District 12 tribute? Their district, silly.

Relative unknowns Amandla Stenberg and Dayo Oekniyi will play Rue and Thresh, two characters that develop a relationship with Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) after getting off to a rocky start with her. It’s a good thing they didn’t let a less-than-perfect first impression ruin a potential friendship. Too many people do that these days.

The film, based on the best-selling young adult book series of the same name, hits theaters March 23rd, 2012. Of course, the anticipated success of the first installment already has many thinking “franchise,”so these newbie actors could find this to be a real springboard for their career. Always nice to get career momentum in middle school. (THR)
