In news that was only a matter of time given the success of the original a couple months back, Thor
will officially be returning with Hemsworth back in the helmet, but Branagh serving as only a producer, and not as the helmer on the victory lap. Right now, Marvel
‘s biggest competition seems to be with itself, as Iron Man 3
is slated to hit theaters on May 3, so expect the newer franchise to see a release later in the summer, an upgrade from its late-spring release date for the original.
It’s probably best that Marvel locked down Hemsworth now (though it was probably in his initial contract) because his stock seems to be rising with Snow White and the Huntsman, as well as the news yesterday that he would be starring in Shadow Runner as a special ops leader, with little else known.
And Marvel gets one step closer to having a major comic adaptation release every week for the rest of time… (Deadline)
