Despite being based on a popular comic book series, the first season of AMC’s”The Walking Dead” managed to pull off a few surprises. It’s due to episodes like the CDC finale that we’re unsure of where the series will go.
While speaking at PaleyFest over the weekend, Frank Darabont revealed that season two will cover familiar ground from Robert Kirkman‘s comic. The Shawshank Redemption/Green Mile director revealed that he and “Priso Break” alum Sarah Wayne Callies will be headed back to the big house.
“I keep getting sent back to prison. It’s such a damn good idea though,” added Darabont. “That moment in the comic where I read it and went, ‘That’s too damn cool not to do.’ It’s such a great idea: ‘Oh look, safety! Cut to the worst possible place in the world.”
Though he did state that they won’t stick too closely to the book. They want to make a show for everyone, not just the comics fans. With that in mind, he’s invited his cast to pitch ideas for their characters. Ugh. I guess that’s what happens when you fire all the writers. (The Wrap)
