With an Oscar, critical acclaim, and a boatload of box office receipts all in its favor, it was all but a certainty that The Muppets would be getting a sequel.

Now, it's a certainty.

Disney is in the process of locking down co-writer Nicholas Stoller and director James Bobin for a victory lap. No word on Jason Segel's involvement yet, but I could see a decision on including him going either way. He was a competent and likable star, and no one has the enthusiasm for Muppets like he has, but the star of the movies should always be the Muppets, and not some dude whose wiener we saw in Forgetting Sarah Marshall.

No word on release date, but I would bank on Thanksgiving of "as soon as f*cking possible."
