It's commonly held among both nerds and non-nerds that the Iron Man suit, featured in the movies of the same name, and The Avengers, is one of the coolest movie toys out there. So it was only a matter of time before the U.S. military, arguably the best-funded organization on Earth, demanded one like a petulant child.

To make the dream come true, the military isn't just working with its normal contractors like Lockheed Martin and General Dynamics (is there a more sinister name in the world than "General Dynamics?"), but also with Legacy Effects, who designed the suit for the films.

The Wall Street Journal is claiming that the suit will have "a weapon, provide bullet protection, monitor vitals, and give its wearer superhuman strength and perception." The perfect outfit to kill a lot of people in.

No word on when the suit will be ready, but it sounds like Summer 2017 is a good slot.
