With rumors and announcements abound surrounding Star Wars and its many spinoffs, it's hard to to keep things straight. And now a little of the speculation can be laid to rest as Disney has found a director for the second new installment of the franchise.

Rian Johnson, who has helmed films such as Brick and Looper, as well as Breaking Bad  is taking the reigns after J.J. Abrams tackles #7. Johnson is a fairly progressive choice for such a high-stakes franchise, but he brings a grit level of wit to series of films that needed both of those in the most-recent Episodes I through III.

Oddly, Johnson has also signed on to write, but not direct, #9. So it seems like the studio is getting their ducks in a row and may one day soon stop lobbing announcements over to us on an hourly basis.
