‘Spider-Man’ Director Teams With ‘Black Swan’ Writer For Sure-To-Be-Weird Sci-Fi Movie

There’s nothing weirder than a crazy ballerina who lezes out and thinks she’s turning into an evil bird, so writing a straight up sci-fi movie should be a cakewalk for screenwriter Mark Heyman (Black Swan). He’ll be teaming up with director Marc Webb (500 Days of Summer), who’s currently rebooting the franchise of everyone’s favorite Broadway dancing superherostar Spider-Man, on the Fox Searchlight project Age of Rage.

What is Age of Rage? Does it have anything to do with the awesome 4chan meme? Sadly, “no.” Or as Rageguy would say, “ffffuuuuuuu–” It’s a post-apocalyptic world where children rule the planet, because all the adults are dead. I’m guessing the phrase “Mad Max meets Lord of the Flies” was uttered more than once at the Fox Searchlight offices.

Heyman (“hey man!”) began his career working as an executive at Darren Aronofsky’s Protozoa Pictures, and has transitioned into the far more glamorous world of having to take shitty notes from executives that you know will ruin everything, aka screenwriting. He’s currently penning the futuristic thriller Machine Man for Mandalay. (Hollywood Reporter)
