I’m big fan of the Snakes On A Plane internet meme. So I’m glad that director David R. Ellis isn’t letting naysayers sway him away from using another jokey title that could cost his movie millions of dollars in revenue. Ellis isn’t a fan of the foreign title of his new movie Shark Night 3D, so he’s proposing this title for the US release:
“The title says everything you need to know,” Ellis said. “‘We’ve got sharks.’ ‘It’s in 3D.’ and, ‘It’s a thriller.’”
You know what? If Relativity Media wants to release a film with “Untitled” in the title, and David R. Ellis doesn’t mind putting his reputation on the line, I will proudly participate in an Untitled 3D Shark Thriller Photoshop contest. Then I will forward the link for that contest to my friends, so they can post it on their Facebook walls. We’ll all have a grand old time on the intertubes.
Now, will I pay $25 dollars for a movie they were too ironically lazy to find a good title for? Uhm… no. But I’ll gladly make fun of the trailer on Twitter, which I assume will help their box office numbers somehow. (Cinema Blend)
