Disney has announced the release date for Oz, The Great And Powerful and it looks like we may all be killed by Mayans before that thing is in the can. Cameras are set to role this July followed by a mere 22 month wait until the James Franco flick hits theaters on March 8th, 2013. So you've got plenty of time to camp out for tickets. And James Franco has plenty of time to earn several degrees.

It looks like Oz already has some competition though. Neill Blomkamp's Elysium also opens that day. Both have tentpole film potential, so it seems odd to open them during a dead winter month. March is usually reserved for previously shelved projects and things that have Tyler Perry in them. Is this the studio's way of telling us to expect Tyler Perry cameos? (Deadline)
