People everywhere are wondering, often out loud during the day and everything, what Christopher Nolan’s sequel to The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises, is going to be like. Some less reputable movie news outlets have capitalized on this excitement by reporting on unsubstantiated rumors regarding casting and whether certain characters will be appearing in the movie or not. Which reminds me, according to Michigan’s WILX:
“They looked at the Ledges as well as a water treatment plant located inside the park. Sources say the area is being considered as a hideout for Batman sidekick Robin.”
“They,” of course, being location scouts for The Dark Knight Rises. This sounds pretty airtight to me, since a well-known part of the Robin mythos is that he lives in a water treatment plant. Is this who Joseph Gordon-Levitt is going to be playing? (via Screenrant)

It’s not happening. Nolan said that he would never cast a Robin, because the films are on Batman’s earlier years.

Christian Bale has said repeatedly that he would leave the role if Robin was included in the film.

Quote: “Relax. So long as Chris Nolan and Christian Bale are involved, there will be no Robin. But Batman’s regular sidekicks all have tickets back to Gotham City: Gary Oldman as Commissioner Gordon, Michael Caine as Alfred, Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”
