Robert Downey Jr. Warms Up Pipes For Musical Comedy
Robert Downey Jr. is tired of not singing all of his dialogue and Warner Bros. has a solution. The studio has closed a deal for an untitled musical comedy that will be developed as a potential star vehicle for the actor with the voice of an angel. Deadline, that's your cue!
The hope is for Downey to play one of two Broadway songwriters who find themselves creatively and financially bankrupt when their big-break musical is a huge flop. Searching for some inspiration for their comeback, they take jobs as counselors, teaching singing and dancing at the theater camp they attended as kids.
Sounds like School of Rock but with better personal grooming. I for one totally support Downey belting out some ballads. The man can dance. The man can sing. Why should we clip his wings? If you had seen Pierce Brosnan in Mama Mia we wouldn't even be having this conversation.
