Richard Griffiths, the hilariously-faced star of the Harry Potter films and Withnail & I, has died from complications of heart surgery at the age of 65. The veteran English actor started his career by joining the Royal Shakespeare Company before going on to become a star of stage and screen. Winner of both the Olivier Award and a Tony, he went on to appear in films such as The French Lieutenant’s Woman, Gorky Park, Chariots Of Fire, Gandhi, Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and Martin Scorsese’s Hugo.
Goodbye to one of the greats. The man could take a bowling ball to the head with the best of them.
