Not one to ruin anyone precious childhood memories unless they involve Transformers or G.I. Joe, Paramount Studios has stepped in and blocked independent producers from developing a sequel to It's A Wonderful Life. Turns out, you need to own the rights to something if you want to make a movie about it. Who knew?

"No project relating to It's A Wonderful Life can proceed without a license from Paramount," a studio spokesperson told The Hollywood Reporter. "To date, these individuals have not obtained any of the necessary rights, and we would take all appropriate steps to protect those rights."

Thus we are saved for another day from seeing a film where Clarence's wings are revealed to be all awesome and cybernetic.
