He's a filmmaker known for taking risks but Richard Linklater has determined that remaking The Incredible Mr. Limpet is an experiment even he won't attempt. The Boyhood director had been attached to the remake with Zach Galifianakis, and recently Jon Hamm, since 2011. However, now that Warner Bros. wants to get serious and and put their hands under the sweater, Linklater is having second thoughts. After all, he is headed to college soon for the higher education-based spiritual sequel to Dazed and Confused, the '80s-set That's What I'm Talking About. And, as we all know, college can change everything.

The film, based on the original which saw Don Knotts transform into a cartoon fish in order to thwart Nazi U-boats, is still a priority at the studio and they are actively searching for a new director. May we recommend Terrence Malick or the guy who did Space Jam? (THR)
