New ‘Blade Runner’ Producer Wants Christopher Nolan, Because Of Course He Does

Friday, March 4 by

Who wouldn’t want Christopher Nolan to direct their movie? I’m sure even guys at the Disney Channel making the TV movie Special Agent P.R.I.N.C.E.S.S. with Selena Gomez want Nolan to direct. So producer Andrew Kosgrove at Alcon Entertainment, when asked about who they want to direct the new Blade Runner prequels/sequels/squeakquels, chose Nolan. “Yeah our friend Chris Nolan who we did Insomnia [with] would be in the pie in the sky for us,” he said.

See, the difference between Alcon and everyone else is that Nolan made a ton of money with Alcon via Insomnia. They’re buddies. They call him “Chris” over there, and after a few drinks, “Magical Mister Mementoffelees.” They also like him cause of the way he transformed Batman into The Dark Knight:

I think the methodology that Chris Nolan brought to Batman is precisely what we aspire to whomever the filmmaker is, whether Ridley comes back and joins us or it’s someone else. It’s precisely what we aspire to with Blade Runner, that’s the template for us.

So if original Blade Runner helmer Ridley Scott comes back, they’ll tell him to direct it like Christopher Nolan? Oh man, that’s gonna be a fun meeting. (/Film)

What was previously a “fucking goddammit” is now a “I’d put my tinydick in that”

Who’d be dumb enough to attempt a sequel/prequel/reboot/remake/whatever, to that movie?
It will never make money (see Kurt Russell’s ‘Soldier’ for further evidence) and it will only ever be regarded as an inferior mistake and therefore used in film classes in every nation as a text book example of bad idea, executed badly.
(also, I quite enjoyed ‘Soldier’ despite the fact that the writer claimed it was a “side-quel” to ‘Bladerunner’)

why go anywhere near blade runner for a prequel or sequel… how can you go anywhere near it’s timeless awesomeness? – I will be like one of those enraged star wars fans if they mess this up. They deserve all the shit they’ll get if they mess it up. It’s like saying, “We’re going to re paint the mona lisa”…

I’m not saying the talent and creativity doesn’t exist to pull it off…. I’m just saying… it’s going to have to take talent and LOVE and care and courage and ART and beauty and mystery and creativity, pioneering, stepping onto new ground…. everyone who has any creative input will have to be creating their masterpiece… And at the same time free from the pressure of being that… working in harmony with each other… way ahead of its time… total magic and beauty and depth. Dam it, I love that film so much, it messes me up.

And if there’s even if a sniff of “pleasing the wider audience” to make more money from it, they can really fock off. Any pointless stupid comedy acts, or ‘fun for all of the family’ bollocks on Blade Runner….. any lengthy special effects taking up the time and budget of the film as thought we’re creaming our pants over the action scenes… instead of the art and content of the film. And you know, anyone want to tell me to shut the F up…. No way – In this world, amazing things like this get exploited primarily for money instead of the love for what it is… I find that repugnant. Good luck to them and go for it! but for fook sake put all your love, hard work, passion and blood, tears & sweat into it.
