Everyone reading this should make a donation to author Michael Connelly. You might recognize the name from his numerous popular novels, or by the fact that one of them, The Lincoln Lawyer, is now a movie starring Matthew McConaughey. But did you know he recently spent $3 million dollars out of pocket to get the film rights to two novels (The Black Ice and The Black Echo) featuring detective Harry Bosch, “an LAPD homicide detective who has been the centerpiece of 16 novels that have sold millions of copies” back from Paramount? He did! So he’s probably feeling a little light about the pockets right now. I think we should all chip in and buy a few of his books, or maybe go see The Lincoln Lawyer. It’s the least we can do for the poor guy.
Anyway, now that he has the film rights, he reportedly wants to enter an agreement with Soren Staermose and Ole Sondberg’s Yellow Bird Films, the same company that brought The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo and its sequels to the screen. If you’re going to spend $3 million dollars, you might as well spend it right. (via Deadline)
