Manhattan Beach Gets ‘Avatar’-ted

Monday, April 11 by

Where will the next Avatar movies be shot? Ask one of those crazy Na’vi fans who paint themselves blue and they’ll answer, “in the wild forests of Pandora, of course.” The real answer is a motion capture facility in Manhattan Beach. Not nearly as mystical or hippie-ish, though I hear they have granola bars in the snack machines.

Twentieth Century Fox and director James Cameron have chosen MBS Media Campus in Manhattan Beach to shoot the sequels to Avatar, the bazillion dollar grossing, unofficial remake of Disney’s Pocahontas. The studio has 15 sound stages and 580,000-square-feet of studio and office space. Cameron’s production company, Lightstorm Entertainment (sounds like the name of a terrible mid-90s comic book company), is likely to move in as well. If Cameron gets his way, his studio and offices will be closer to his home in Santa Monica.

If you’re one of those crazy Avatar fans I discussed earlier, the MBS Media Campus address is 1600 Rosecrans Ave. A true Na’vi would camp out there until Avatar 2‘s release date in December 2014, followed by Avatar 3 in December 2015. Just don’t tell them Screen Junkies sent you. (Hollywood Reporter)

Is that where Marvel’s studios/offices are? I feel like that’s where they set up for Iron Man 2.

Wait, I wonder how much fuel is burned up into the ozone in order to make these movies, and then all the fuel used to ship all the products everywhere, and then all the fuel used to create the merchandise itself, and then all the fuel burned up by JC’s ego SHAZAM
