Having fallen out of the mainstream public consciousness sometime around Clerks 2 six years ago, Kevin Smith has kept on truckin' with limited commercial or critical success during that time, bouncing between writer/director and speaker/fanboy icon.

So it's only somewhat surprising that Smith has decided to call it a day with the apparently-upcoming Clerks 3. In case you don't believe me, we've got the Tweet to prove it.
"So with the 'HIT SOMEBODY' shift, the minute Jeff Anderson signs on, my last cinematic effort as a writer/director will be 'CLERKS III"

In case you're a little confused by the first part of that sentence, Smith's upcoming hockey comedy Hit Somebody has now become a TV mini-series, rather than the feature film it was initially sought to be.

This news will likely be met with mixed reviews by Smith fans and haters alike, having soiled much of his indie charm with sequels and works operating in his trademark View Askewniverse which keeps familiar faces from his Clerks days and beyond popping up whether they're welcome or not.

So, it's bad because you like him, or bad because you like to hate him. Or it's good because you hate him, or good because you like him but think he's done. It's not up to us to tell you how to feel.
