Kevin Smith Sells Off Props To Pay For ‘Red State’

Tuesday, April 5 by

Director/jorts-wearer Kevin Smith is apparently having a tough time of his unconventional distribution plan for his horror movie Red State. And in order to alleviate this financial pressure, he’s doing what anyone would: Auctioning off shit from his previous movies. Here’s a short list of just some of the terrific items that you’ll be able to bid on online:

“The Bluntman costume [Smith] donned in Jay And Silent Bob Strike Back; a set of wings Ben Affleck wore in Dogma; a cash register featured in Clerks II and a fake movie script used in Zack And Miri Make A Porno.”

I’ve never thought this would happen to me, but I’m relieved that Kevin Smith’s Bluntman costume would probably be too big for me. Anyway, the auction begins on April 10, so start saving up your weed money now. Opportunities like this only come every time Kevin Smith tries to distribute one of his own movies himself. Sorry Joseph, but this auction has been in the works since last year, long before Red State went into production. It is one additional way to get money into the kitty to get Red State to your local theatre, but the Red State Tour has gone amazingly well… see theredstatements.com

    No “tough time” there.

Why so down on getting the fans what they want? a piece of the amazing Askewniverse!
