Justin Lin Signs Up For ‘Times Square’ Even Though That Place Is For Tourists

"I want you to drive right into Dwayne Johnson. Don't even consider using your brakes."

It’s pretty rare that we get to discuss movies made from actual, original screenplays. Not a remake, reboot, or bootmake-y sequel. An honest-to-goodness new idea. So let us revel in this – Justin Lin, the talented young director behind the recent Fast and the Furious installments, is being attached to direct the blacklist script Times Square.

Times Square takes place in the late days of the old, seedy iteration of the current mecca for tourists. The crime thriller focuses on a young man who has to choose loyalties between his boss and an ex-cop when a secret from his past arises.

Currently, there are no licensing rights, sequels announced, or spin-offs contemplated. It sounds like A Bronx Tale, but just a few miles south.

Which is just fine by us.
