Since breaking out in Animal Kingdom, Joel Edgerton is quickly establishing himself as the less violent option to Russell Crowe. The star of the recent The Thing  is now in talks for another prequel. He's up for the part of Themosticles in 300: Battle of Artemisia, the general who led the Greeks in battle against the Persians in 480 BC.

The action takes place ten years before Gerard Butler airbrushed his abs in defense of Sparta, and spans the decade long battle. Seems odd that they would cast an Australian to play Greek. This is the break-out role Zach Galifianakis has been waiting for.
