Jamie Foxx Will Play Mike Tyson In An Upcoming Biopic

Something tells me he can pull this off.

Jamie Foxx has reportedly signed on to make a film about beleaguered former heavyweight champ Mike Tyson. The film will be directed by Sopranos and Boardwalk Empire producer/director Terence Winter. It’s unclear what the scope of the film will be, as it seems most every chapter of Tyson’s life is pretty cinematic.

Given Jamie Foxx’s age, it’s unlikely that Foxx roles would focus on his troubled adolescent years in the Bronx and Catskills. But stranger things have happened. I hope that at least some of the film tracks against Tyson’s fighting days, so we can see what Foxx does to resemble the bulldog-sized Tyson in the late 80′s and early 90′s.

Despite Winter’s ties to HBO, and that networks release of its own Tyson film a few years back, this one is slated for a theatrical release, so expect some starpower behind it.
