UPDATE: It seems that the Detroit Police have cancelled everything but the first pitch. No reason given yet. Looks like Detroit won’t even get their RoboCop Day. Bummer.
ORIGINAL POST: Because Detroit doesn’t have THAT much to celebrate these days, they’re looking to the past to cheer them up. A fictional past in which Detroit is a violent, dangerous dystopia. Hmm. That should take their mind off the present all right.
So they’re celebrating RoboCop Day, which is exactly what it sounds like. A RoboCop statue (the one funded by Kickstarter a couple years back) will be unveiled, but that’s not all. Here’s the schedule of events on RoboCop Day. RoboCop is going to be even busier than that BatKid was.
12:00 PM: RoboCop and Detroit Police Department arrivals
12:10 PM: RoboCop presentation and statue announcement
12:30 PM: 1:00 p.m. – Fan photo opportunities with RoboCop
1:00 PM: RoboCop and Detroit Police Department departure to protect the City of Detroit
7:00 PM: RoboCop throws out the first pitch at Comerica Park
Do I have any idea what this means? Not the slightest clue. But it basically means RoboCop is hanging around for an hour, then throwing a baseball.
HAPPY ROBOCOP DAY, DETROIT! SORRY ABOUT YOUR ECONOMY AND THE FERAL DOGS!
