Rejecting the presumption that these sorts of movies write themselves, Universal Studios and director McG have decided that the current iteration of the Ouija script will need some polishing. What they have now isn't quite up to the standards that are set for films based on board games found at your weird aunt's house, so Mr. and Mrs. Smith writer Simon Kinberg will be working his magic on the first draft from Tron Legacy scribes Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz.

The film is being positioned as a family adventure, which makes me unable to shake the comparisons to Jumanji, another movie predicated on a board game (albeit a fictional one) that tossed obstacles only tangentially related to each other at some kids until it decided to stop.

Or it could follow in the footsteps of Clue and simply defy all movie conventions with a cast of aging cult stars. But something tells me it's gonna be like Jumanji.
