B and C-list actors, Hemingway and Gellhorn is your Woodstock. The HBO film following the marriage of author Ernest Hemingway and war correspondent Martha Gellhorn has decided to balance out the starpower of Clive Owen and Nicole Kidman (in the led roles), with actors with, uh, less starpower. Like Molly Parker, David Strathairn, Parker Posey, Tony Shaloub, Peter Coyote (howl!), and Lars Ulrich, the drummer from Metallica, who I guess is hot now because of his turn as himself in Get Him to the Greek.
You wanted the best? You got the best! And some other people!
The film will follow the romance and tangential characters through the strife of the Spanish Civil War and beyond. Pretty much every actress cast in the film will be playing one of Hemingway’s ex-wives. Wonder why he had so many failed marriages? Maybe he was unhappy or something.
Hemingway and Gellhorn will premiere on HBO next year. (Deadline)
