Breaking: A weird movie gets yet another weird actor to star in it. Dark retellings are the new "gritty," and Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters has gone dark with its casting thus far with Jeremy Renner, Peter Stomare, and Famke Janssen, but has raised the bar by picking up the seemingly hairless thespian (Derek Mears) that recently portrayed Jason Vorhees. SCORE!

Renner is playing Hansel and Gemma Arterton his sister, Gretel, and Stomare is playing the evil sheriff of the village. The film picks up on the duo 15 years after their traumatic attack, having developed a taste for witch blood ever since that fateful day. It's hard not to like the premise, even as similar as it is to both Abe Lincoln: Vampire Effer-Upper, and Pride and Prejudice and Zombies and Production Delays. It's sort of like"Dexter" as told by the BrothersGrimm. Don't even be surprised if they get Mears to reprise his role as the hockey-masked serial killer, just to dial up the weird to 11. (Cinematical)
