Movie studios aren’t even trying to not rip off Twilight anymore. There’s “Teen Wolf” and Red Riding Hood and probably loads more that I’ve blocked out of my subconscious. Of course, copying the vampire or werewolf angle wouldn’t work, would it? Which supernatural being could be subbed in…. dragons? Yep. Dragons.
Mandalay has hired Aquamarine screenwriter Nick Pustay to adapt the creatively-titled Firelight for the big screen. Described as Twilight with dragons (you don’t say!), Firelight tells the story of a young girl dragon who can morph into human form. She was destined to marry another dragon but her mom moved the family away to protect them. Now a teenager, she’s fallen in love with a human boy who happens to belong to a family of secret dragon hunters.
The only upside to this is that the fat teenagers are going to start dressing up like lizards and sunning themselves on the rocks behind Hot Topic. (THR)
