Greengrass Has Some Unscheduled Free Time, Eying New Projects

Since the estate of MLK seems to want Deadline reports that Greengrass is eying The Deep Blue Good-by, based on a series of novels written by John D. MacDonald. It is assumed that Leonardo DiCaprio‘s Appian Way would produce, with DiCaprio interested in the role of protagonist Travis McGee, a beach bum who picks up work in salvage and has adventures along the way. However, DiCaprio will be busy with Clint Eastwood’s J. Edgar, followed by Baz Luhrmann‘s The Great Gatsby, so expect timing to be a big fact in all of this, especially considering that Memphis still appears to be his highest priority.

It’s also possible that Greengrass could go in a different direction with Here There Be Monsters, which centers around a maligned John Paul Jones doing work investigating the disappearances of ships. We’ll, uh, call that “Plan C.”
