Gotham City Will Look A Little More Pittsburghy This Time

Tuesday, April 5 by

Fans of Chicago, the Gotham City of the Midwest, have been delighted to see its increasingly obvious presence in Christopher Nolan’s two Batman movies. But it appears they’ll be disappointed when they go to see the third entry, The Dark Knight Rises, because Nolan has decided to shoot in Pittsburgh, PA. Here’s Nolan, defending himself from a hail of thrown deep dish pizzas, Polish sausages, and political corruption:

“Pittsburgh is a beautiful city. We have been able to find everything we were looking for here, and I am excited to spend the summer in Pittsburgh with our final installment of Batman.”

I’ll say he must have found everything he was looking for, because who would want to spend the summer listening to Wiz Khalifa’s “Black and Yellow” ad nauseum? (via The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette)

Sorry to hear that Chicago won’t be filming The Dark Knight Rises. But Pittsburgh is a beautiful city that has alot of old and new architecture. I’m happy to have it filmed in my hometown.
