George R. R. Martin Has Strong Words For His Doubters

If you are amongst the many who are concerned that 65-year-old George R. R. Martin will die before completing his A Song of Ice and Fire saga, the Game of Thrones author would like to respond. A Swiss newspaper asked him how he felt about those who doubt he’ll survive his magnum opus and Martin responded, “I find that question pretty offensive,” he said. “So f**k you to those people,” before throwing up a middle finger.

I’d expect something a bit more eloquent from the guy who writes Tyrion but it’s simple and to the point. I like it.

He also went on to talk about the fans who get upset when they see him participating in activities like football games, conventions, and press rounds as these keep him away from his writing. Martin noted that he knows his process and he only writes at home when he knows he has a good amount of time reserved to get lost in his work. He doesn’t write in hotel rooms or on planes or trains. That’s why I think Martin should consider living on a houseboat. He’d be able to travel from place to place and his output wouldn’t be effected. Plus, he’s already got the appropriate hat.
