You know a film has buzz when it can broker a deal for a film that one of its actors starred in six months ago. Well, that's the power of Fincher and the power of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. Last fall, Rooney Mara (the titular "girl with the dragon tattoo") starred in a film called Tanner Hall that premiered at the Toronto Film Festival. Several initial distribution deals fell through, but momentum was restored when Mara won the role of Lisbeth Salander. Now Anchor Bay, the firm that picked up Tanner Hall, is planning on near the same time as Dragon Tattoo, surely in the hopes that the larger film will do much of their marketing for them. Not a bad play on their part.

Beyond Mara, Tanner Hall boasts a fairly odd cast comprised of Amy Sedaris, Chris Kattan, and Tom Everett Scott. The plot revolves around four teenagers growing up at a boarding school, which is odd, because none of the cited cast could really play a convincing teenage girl. Except for Kattan. (Deadline)
