‘Fast Five’ Oscar-Worthy, Says Oscar Historian Vin Diesel

Vin Diesel, believe it or not, has never been nominated for an Academy Award for acting. Nor have any of the movies in the Fast and Furious series been nominated for any major Oscars. But that might be about to change, thanks to the latest entry in the series, Fast Five, according to Fast Five star and eminent Oscar prognosticator Vin Diesel:

“I wouldn’t be surprised if there is some Oscar talk around this. I don’t know, maybe I’m just biting off what some guy from Channel 7 thought. But sooner or later, people are gonna say, ‘Wait a minute, just because they are for the working class doesn’t mean they’re not great.’”

Here’s a thought that just occurred to me: With his gleaming bald head, Vin Diesel kind of looks like an Oscar statuette. That’s it, that’s all I got. Good luck in your quest for a Best Picture Oscar for Fast Five, Vin Diesel. Let’s face it, Fast Five is almost certainly better than Shakespeare In Love. (LA Times)
