Edgar Wright Bails On ‘Ant-Man’

He wasn't allowed to make the movie he wanted to make, apparently.

Edgar Wright, the man behind the cult faves Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, has lef this pet project Ant-Man just a short time before filming was to begin.

The little-known Marvel property had been championed by Wright for years, and garnered more intrigue after it had been announced that Paul Rudd was to play the superhero.

However, due to the catch-all “creative differences,” Wright has walked off, amicably, if a press release is to be believed. The cast is currently set to stay, and while the studio behind the film, Marvel, can find a new director, it’s unlikely they’ll be able to replicate his playful reverence or the cult cache that he brings to the project.

But no doubt they’ll try.
