Dustin Hoffman Feels Retired Opera Singer Story Must Be Told

Wednesday, January 19 by

Dustin Hoffman has had a hell of a career as an actor in Hollywood. And now he’s doing what all actors wish they could at some time or another: Direct a story about retired opera singers getting together for one last shindig. The movie is called Quartet, based on a play by Ronald Harwood, and it’s about “four retired opera singers living in a retirement home, who decide to sing once more at a gala concert to celebrate Verdi’s birthday.” That sounds…really, uh, cool. Joining Hoffman are Maggie Smith, Albert Finney and Tom Courtenay, along with Harwood, who is adapting his work for the screen. The article doesn’t say who’s going to make that trio of actors a Quartet, but maybe Hoffman is friends with an actor who could take the part or something. (Image and info via The Playlist)
