Having enough colored birds on his resume, Darren Aronofsky has opted out of directing Red Sparrow. Aronofsky had been in negotiations to direct the adaptation of veteran CIA officer Jason Matthews’ spy thriller since the fall, but has decided to move on to his yet-to-be-confirmed next project.
The project remains a priority for 20th Century Fox so there next step is to find a writer to put together the script. And they can’t just copy and paste from the book because that’s cheating. How are they supposed to learn if somebody else does it for them? (THR)
