I know you've been refreshing Screen Junkies all day for a possible Percy Jackson 2 announcement. Now you can finally get on with the rest of your life, because it's been confirmed that Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Sea of Monsters is officially being worked on. My hands are trembling with excitement as I type this.

Fox 2000 has signed the Perce-Man himself Logan Lerman for the sequel, and while Chris Columbus probably won't return as director/ruiner, he will produce Sea of Monsters. Writers Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski (1408) will adapt Rick Riordan's second novel in the popular Percy Jackson series.

Lightning Thief's haul was far from Olympian, but the books remain popular, so Fox 2000 will give Percy Jackson another chance to sla the box office monster. Maybe Percy will grow up from a half-blood god to a Harry Potter, if we all just give it a chance, which at the moment I'm not prepared to do.

Below is a plot summary from the book your little cousin won't shut up about. (Collider)
Percy Jackson’s seventh-grade year has been surprisingly quiet. Not a single monster has set foot on his New York prep-school campus. But when an innocent game of dodgeball among Percy and his classmates turns into a death match against an ugly gang of cannibal giants, things get… well, ugly. And the unexpected arrival of Percy’s friend Annabeth brings more bad news: the magical borders that protect Camp Half-Blood have been poisoned by a mysterious enemy, and unless a cure is found, the only safe haven for demigods will be destroyed.

In this fresh, funny, and hugely anticipated follow up to The Lightning Thief, Percy and his friends must journey into the Sea of Monsters to save their beloved camp. But first, Percy will discover a stunning new secret about his family — one that makes him question whether being claimed as Poseidon’s son is an honor or simply a cruel joke. [Amazon]
