The National Federation of the Blind is angry about Blindness. Not the condition. Well, actually they're angry about that. Like in general But in this case its a movie with Mark Ruffallo and Jullianne Moore that is pissing them off.

Here's a quick blurb about the movie (from IMDB):

A city is ravaged by an epidemic of instant "white blindness". Those first afflicted are quarantined by the authorities in an abandoned mental hospital where the newly created "society of the blind" quickly breaks down.

The part that has them seeing red...shit, sorry. The part that has them angry is the characterization of visually handicapped people as mental asylum-dwelling pants-soilers who trade sex for food. And lets be honest, that's a bunch of bullshit that totally denies how much this community has contributed to R&B music and seeing into the future.

The NFB is so angry that they are not only asking all blind people to boycott any showings, but advocating for protests at screenings. The president of the organization was recently quoted saying "The movie portrays blind people as monsters, and I believe it to be a lie. Blindness doesn't turn decent people into monsters."  Word brother. Here's a photo I got of the protest on Hollywood Blvd last night.
