After two strong installments, Beverly Hills Cop III missed the mark pretty badly, and didn't only serve to stunt the franchise, but it signaled the decline of Murphy's career as well. However, with a built in fan base of millions, and a familiar face/character in Eddie Murphy/Axel Foley, it was really just a matter of time before they got back on the horse.

This news comes after the development and death of a Beverly Hills Cop TV show that would have followed Axel's son around, solving crimes and laughing oddly.

Frequent Murphy collaborator Brett Ratner isn't attached to the project, as he once was, but the script is being developed by the guys that wrote Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol and the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles....

It's going to be good?
