After rumors had long attached Borat's Sacha Baron Cohen to the role of the late Queen frontman, he distanced himself from the project after Queen members he might not give Mercury the respect he deserves. It's a bit odd that they think Cohen would just take a serious biopic and turn it into a Bruno-level game of grabass, but whatever. They're Queen, and they've earned the right to make rash decisions.

The guy that WILL play Mercury is Ben Whishaw, who I hadn't heard of, but does look something like Mercury. So that's something. Whishaw has rock film experience with the Dylan pseudo-biopic I'm Not There, and in the sci-fi Cloud Atlas.

The film will cover the band's rise through its 1985 Live Aid performance, which many considered it's last great stand, (aside from the Legendary Concert for Life).
