Robert Zemeckis has decided to pry himself away from one detested and failed method of storytelling (mo-cap) to pursue a slightly less-hated method of storytelling (the musical), having gotten into early talks to start work on Back to the Future the musical, according to Deadline.

Few other details are either known or given, though Zemeckis is working closely with Alan Silvestri who did the original score for Back to the Future, so we won't likely be seeing a Trent Reznor re-imagining or anything.

I'm ambivalent, mostly because I don't care for musicals, so I likely won't be seeing this unless they give away Hoverboards and Nike McFlys to everyone in attendance. But anything that causes Zemeckis to step away from those mo-cap ping-pong balls should be seen as a blessing.
