Aykroyd Wants Apatow For Ghostbusters 3

Thursday, September 4 by

Rumors have abounded concerning the possible involvement of Judd Apatow in the third installment of the Ghostbusters franchise. According to Dan Aykroyd the script is already being written.

Pineapple Express is really the first glimpse of an Apatow action film. The reason that the original Ghostbusters was good was because of the mix of sci-fi and that 80’s style of cool guy comedy that Bill Murray was so good at. Judd’s films are based on dick jokes and self-deprecation, which is sort of the opposite. There’s a possibility that it could work out. At least Aykroyd thinks so:

Well, y’know, two sharp young writers are purported to be writing the sequel, the third movie now. If I could interest Seth [Rogen] and Judd [Apatow] to be part of it, that would be an absolute dream.

Is it possible to really make guys like Seth Rogan, Jonah Hill, and Mike Cera into Hero’s? Maybe you don’t have to. I think it all depends on how the Green Lantern turns out. And it’s going to be a while before we can decide on that one.
