Character actor Brendan Gleeson, set to make his directorial debut with his long-in-the-works adaptation of the Irish classic novel At Swim-Two-Birds by Flann O'Brien, has done what every director eventually must: Cast Michael Fassbender. Fellow Irishmen Gabriel Byrne, Colin Farrell and Cillian Murphy have been attached to the project for some time as well. A plot synopsis would be ... difficult, considering that the novel is some kind of meta-fictional morass involving a writer whose novel begins to intertwine with the people in his life, but suffice it to say it's Irish.

No word yet on which characters will be played by which actors, but hopefully they'll all be able to get their Irish accents right. At Swim-Two-Birds is set to begin shooting in spring 2012. (ScreenDaily)
